My personal fashion must-have? J. Brand denim, no question. And thanks to Miss Ashley, Denim Goddess Extraordinaire from Belmont's own Bessie Blue, my latest obsession is J. Brand's low-rise cigarette leg pants. It should here be noted that if you lack the lust for denim, then you're in desperate need of a visit with Ashley. The girl has a serious gift; she can take just one look at you and determine exactly the brand and shape of denim for your body. But beware, you may develop a denim addiction (I am proof of this sickness). But I digress... The topic at hand is cigarettes: wear them!
Patron Saint of these tight-fitting ankle pants--or "cigarette pants" as we fashionistas know them--was Audrey Hepburn, who pioneered this (now) classic look both on and off the screen, wearing hers in black with basic ballet flats. Today’s denim edition are a modern interpretation of Audrey's black cigs, made to be form-fitting like whoa! and to give your legs that supermodel long, lean look. I'm obsessed with J. Brand's 914 version for their slim, sophisticated fit and "ink" wash that is so dark it borders on black.

For me, cigarette pants lend themselves best to two fashion scenarios. You can pair them with a longer-fitting, drape-y sweater and high-heeled boots for an equestrian effect, or you can go the metropolitan route and rock them with a black blazer and sky-high heels. And of course, you can always go Hepburn-chic and wear yours with simple ballet flats. In fact, it was Audrey herself who told women, My look is attainable. Indeed, cigarette pants + fashionista = sleek, stylish, perfection. So wear them!
