A recent posting from The Cut caught the eye of one of my fave NYC fashion spies, setting off my denim-loving radar (beep beep beep!) to the existence of Madewell's new limited-edition destroyed jeans. This special collection was on sale last week at an exclusive "Denim After Dark" event in the store's Soho location. For those of us not living in the 212, never fear! These deliciously distressed jeans will magically re-appear for Madewell’s fall 2009 line, available when the collection hits stores this summer. If it sounds too good to be true, it just might be; the price tag on these uber broken-in lovelies isn't what I would call "reasonable." However, the silver lining is a fabulous DIY opportunity. For the fashionista who is undeterred by a little bit of elbow grease, what's a little slicing and dicing? It's a question of mathematics, really: old pair of jeans + scissors + bleach + seam ripper = destroyed denim, dahhhhling!
